Why Project Courage exists

We tell people to reach out.
What happens next matters.

“How will I take care of my family if I take time to get help?”

People who dedicate their lives to helping others can struggle, too. For someone working in behavioral health or addiction treatment, asking for help may come with fears about their career, their reputation, and their family’s stability.

Project Courage grew out of personal experiences of loss, and of watching people risk their income, insurance, and stability to seek treatment. Those experiences made the need for practical support impossible to ignore.

A group of us came together with a shared purpose: to help ease the financial pressures that can stand between someone and the help they need.

The support we’re working to provide

Recovery needs room.
Life still needs care.

Our goal is to help with the essential expenses that continue while someone takes time for treatment and recovery.

01 / KEEP COVERAGE

Insurance
premiums

Help with COBRA premiums so maintaining health coverage is one less financial pressure.

02 / BRIDGE THE GAP

Temporary
income support

Help with essential bills during time away from work to seek treatment.

03 / CARE FOR FAMILY

Childcare &
family needs

Support for the practical needs of families while a loved one focuses on getting help.

04 / COVER THE BASICS

Food &
daily essentials

Help with groceries and other everyday necessities that don’t pause for recovery.

Thoughtful decisions. Shared responsibility.

Every decision is reviewed and discussed with our board of directors so that we can make the most ethical decision in each situation.

Project Courage is in its launch stage. Assistance is subject to program eligibility, available resources, and board review.

The belief behind it all

No one should have to choose between getting help and losing everything.

A little more to know

Questions,
answered.

Who is Project Courage for?

Our mission focuses on people working in behavioral health and addiction treatment who need support as they seek help for themselves. We also recognize the impact that getting help can have on their families.

How can I ask for help?

Use the “Ask for help” link to open our initial request form. No name is required. You must provide an email address so we can follow up about your request. Submitting a request does not guarantee assistance; requests are subject to eligibility, resources, and board review.

Will my identity or story be made public?

No. We will never publicly identify you or share your story without your permission. You do not need to provide your name or employer. We do require a contact email, which is visible to the people reviewing your request. Requests are handled by Project Courage representatives and its board as needed for review, and delivered through FormSubmit. This is a confidential request process, rather than a completely anonymous form.

Who reviews decisions?

Every decision is reviewed and discussed with our board of directors so that we can make the most ethical decision in each situation.

How will donations support the mission?

Our goal is to provide practical financial assistance for needs such as COBRA premiums, temporary income support, food, childcare, and other essential expenses. We are building the program and its assistance process.

How can I help if I can’t donate?
